Looking for a frugal end-of-the-year gift idea for your child’s teacher? Want something with a little more pizzazz than a plain old gift card? Why not consider creating this simple “Summer Relaxation in a Jar” gift — which costs less than $10?
I admit that I am somewhat obsessed in LOVE with Mason jars these days. They are versatile and lovely and can be re-purposed for decorating, vases, picture frames and the list goes on.

On my shelves, I have a few half-gallon Mason jars left over from decorations I made for my son’s first birthday party. One of them caught my eye the other day, and I had sudden inspiration for a teacher’s gift. Better yet, I found all of the supplies to create it on hand in my cupboards and craft supply. In just a few minutes, it all came together for this super cute gift idea.
Here’s what you need:
• A half-gallon Mason jar (I got mine at Michaels for $3.29.)
• Some packs of Crystal Light
• Fun straws (I got the ones pictured on Amazon.com for my son’s first birthday. Maybe you could find some at a party store as well?)
• Ribbon
• An All You magazine issue ($2.99 in-store)
Other ideas to add to the jar: a gift card to a local bakery or coffee shop, a thank you note written by your child, chocolate, a bag of nuts, your child’s teacher’s favorite candy.

What do you think? Doesn’t that just say summer relaxation all over it? I also like the fact that the Mason jar can double as a pitcher for the Crystal Light.
The only problem with this gift? I want to keep it!
